tobias yawned softly as he flipped the page and continued to read. ever so often he would stop and jot down notes or questions he had. he wanted to make sure his bases were all covered. potions was not a class you wanted to under study.
he had sat in his usual spot, all the way towards the back. away from most of the windows. his back was turned, but he was too distracted by his readings to notice or hear the footsteps that were drawing closer.
someone touching his shoulder made him jump. he hadn't been expecting anyone."oh, hello."he greeted them with a smile.

When Lily tied her hair back, she meant business. The library wasn't really where she liked to spend time, particularly whilst alone, because she found the atmosphere too intimidating. It felt like every eye was secretly on her, that every fraction of a conversation she caught in whispers was about her; that they all knew she was struggling with a potions essay and would never get it done. Why couldn't one of her friends be here, at least to distract her?
Someone whispered and she switched her eyes in the direction it came from. They were laughing. And a little beyond that... sat a black-haired boy she actually knew. They... could have been friends? Weren't they friends? She didn't want to assume, particularly as he was a boy, but as soon as she saw him she thought of how clever he was. Then she was fighting over the embarrassment of having to cross the library and ask him for help, and the fact that she was desperate for help.
Feeling her face immediately flare up with heat, she found some courage and made way to him. When she was very close, she hesitated. Not too late to turn back... But, almost yelping with fright as she did, she managed to tap him on the shoulder.
Oh no... oh wait! What have I...? I can't do this! Run. Run! Quick! He doesn't want to be disturbed!
But as she took a step back, he was already facing her. And was smiling. Her heart hammered uncomfortably against her chest, and her face scrunched up with tension. It was probably beet red.
"Erm... h-hi. Tobias..." She began, realising her voice was stammering and feeling a pang of embarrassment, "Um," She went again, looking down at the floor, "Well I was... I mean. I was wondering if you could help me with... something."

he wasn't normally this jumpy. once he was absorbed into something he wouldn't even see people standing near him. he also did it when he was reading. going off into his own world once a book was set in front of his face. unless of course he was distracted or bored with the reading material.
he had managed to play it off as he had to turn around. he simply smiled once he saw it was lily."hey, what's up?"he asked as she continued to talk. he wasn't sure but she looked like she was going to ask him something very important. he hoped everything was alright.
he was willing to help those that needed it. he often had trouble saying no to some requests."yes?"he asked softly trying to coax the words out of her."sure, what can i help you with?"he asked curiously.
