Everyone in the wizarding world knows about the Potters, and the world-famous Harry Potter (The Boy Who Lived, The Chosen One. The Saviour, etc) is Lily's father. She is the youngest of three children and the only girl; most of her childhood years were spent chasing after her two older brothers - James and Albus - with a longing to be involved in all their games. She grew up feeling that all eyes were upon her, and was always enthralled about the way her parents were greeted kindly on the streets and were constantly mentioned in The Daily Prophet for their ongoing successes and good deeds. Her Mother, Ginny, was a Quidditch player in her younger years; and is now the manager of the Holyhead Harpies. Her Father - an Auror. And a very good one at that.
Lily was always proud of her upbringing, and never thought of it to be a burden. She firmly believes that her future is already painted bright, just by being the daughter of the Potters. Her determination to do well shows through her hard work and belief that one day she'll go far; but for now she is happy making memories with her friends and spending her time at school feeling lucky, and privileged.
But that's not to say that she thinks herself better than anyone else. On the contrary, Lily is rather meek and timid; can be incredibly shy and is constantly flushing. She likes to see the good in others, loves to be someone her friends can depend on and wants what's best for them. Sometimes she can get incredibly hung up about things and worry over conversations she's had - how she came across - and feel the pang of embarrassment weeks after a bashful moment. If she has embarrassed herself in front of someone, she tends to avoid them and seek reassurance & comfort from her friends or brothers. Lily just hasn't established her own sense of self yet, and tends to let people walk all over her.
She just wants to make everyone happy. And we all know that's a doomed pursuit.

For Lily, her friends are her strength. She is vulnerable without them, and feels afraid to be alone without their guidance. As a friend she is loyal, generous and somewhat possessive. If she feels as though her close friend is spending a lot of time with someone else, then she'll get a bit jealous and try to get them back to her. But really, Lils is very kind. Too kind. Too naive, and easily drawn to people.

Lily doesn't like to disappoint people, and struggles with conflict. Someone has probably picked on her, led her on and called her names; so she's spent many times in the bathroom crying over it instead of holding her head high. She would never intentionally hurt someone and is too afraid of letting people down, so she could never actually hate anyone. She'll just be scared of them. Very scared.

Well... she hasn't thought much about that. Okay, no, she thinks about dating all the time - but she's just discovering her sexuality. She has had a crush on one boy ever since third year, and gets flustered over anything remotely suggestive (like being in close proximity to the opposite sex). But lately she has been having these strange thoughts and feelings for another girl. Might put up a wanted ad, but she'll be the strong, fearless, feisty type. Lily just admires her so much and it's confusing the hell out of her! As for betrothed, she has chosen male. But she's not at all sure what she wants.
